Her Vision

Florence has been running Scholars Home Public School since 1996. Through first-hand experience she has discovered the joys of being with pure and innocent young children. For her, this feeling of joy is like being next to God as they provide her with enough reasons to smile…

She firmly believes in nurturing and imbibing innocent young children with great values so that they retain their basic trust in humanity. For her, it is essential for children to be patriotic in order to grow up into good human beings.

Every child has to realize the importance of contributing towards the development of society in addition to duty towards the family and own self.

Besides education, Florence has also been passionately involved with the electronic media since September 2004. Apart from regularly anchoring prime time English news live on television (2004 to 2008), she has hosted about four hundred live talk shows and interviews with well-known personalities from various fields on her show, ‘Good Morning Northeast’ on NeTV (2004-2005).

She has also acted in nine Hindi and Assamese TV serials produced by Guwahati Doordarshan, few short films and docu-feature films. The short film ‘Ganga’ in which she played the role of a teacher and social activist, won the Best Short Film Award in the Social Issues Category at the International Independent Film & Video Festival in New York in March 2008. It was also screened at the Cannes Film Festival thereafter.

In 2008 Florence anchored a weekly news magazine, ‘Northeast Roundup’ on national channel, DD-1. Besides this, she has had fantastic and memorable stints as Radio Jockey on Radio Ooo La La 91.9 FM and Radio Gup Shup FM (2007-2009) enjoying terrific rapport and ‘connect’ with her listeners.

She joined DY365 in February, 2009 as an English news anchor. The high point of her stint has been her immensely popular TV series ‘DY WOMAN’ which highlighted the contributions of some of the most remarkable women of Assam, to home, society and nation-building.

Her other TV serial, ‘PAGE 3’ also became very popular. It was a show based on the active social life in Guwahati City - covering social events in popular clubs and resorts of Guwahati highlighting positive aspects of Guwahati’s social life in order to dispel doubts and fears from people who are hesitant to visit the NE Region out of apprehension.

In July 2012, Florence authored and brought out her first coffee table book ‘CELEBRATING WOMANHOOD’ – which is a documentation of her TV interviews of some of the leading women of Assam.

She has also had brief forays into the world of theatre – acting in ‘Parijaat’, an Assamese play (staged at Guwahati in 2010) and an English play, ‘Date at 8’ (staged at Guwahati and Shillong in 2011). Recently in 2013, she also acted in the popular Assamese TV serial – ‘Bhara-ghar’ and a short humorous Assamese play ‘Doyttyo Man-hole’ for charity. She has recently acted in Assamese TV serials - 'Ejak Hopun Jen Borukhun' and 'Ghar Juwain' on Jonakk channel. Her latest music video released in 2014 where she has acted with Kopil Bora became quite popular in all television channels of Assam.Currently, she is hosting television shows on Doordarshan Guwahati, DD Northeast and DD National as a casual anchor.

Mission of the Education Trust

This trust has been set up by the Founder and Principal of Scholar’s Home Public School in 2014 primarily for the educational needs of the girl child. It is common knowledge that in many homes in India, especially in the remote interiors, the education of the girl child is given lesser priority than that of a boy because of poverty or difficult economic conditions of the family. It is with the intention of encouraging education of such needy girls that this trust has been founded.

All contribution made to this trust will be utilized for providing a secure platform for at least the minimum basic education to girl students belonging to poor backgrounds.

The trust shall take responsibility for the first two years of schooling at Scholars Home Public School, and for classes I to X and further education, the sponsors will have to remain in regular touch with the Managing Trustee and the volunteers.

This trust seeks the invaluable help of all citizens in this noble venture…
